Founded in 2000, this department belongs to the College of Human Science and Social Innovation, based on our school motto “Begin from oneself, extend benevolence to all.” According to our school and college educational objectives and in accordance with the opinions of our department’s consultants and industrial, official and university experts, we aim to cultivate English professionals with global vision in tourism service and business application.
To establish students’ employability, in addition to fundamental courses of English listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, we plan two modules of course in tourism service and business application. In addition, we have also cooperated with relevant departments to offer interdisciplinary courses such as English tour guides and tour leaders, and cultural tourism. Students are encouraged to choose an interdepartmental minor, dual degrees, and second specialties as well.
For years this department has been recommending more than 50 students to study abroad for exchange programs, dual degrees, double majors, including Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, Thailand, UK, USA. We also signed the agreement of mutual visits for both faculty and students with Humber College in Canada, with a view to deeply cultivating students’ cross-cultural perspectives and global vision.
At present, this department is composed of 8 classes, including 4 in day programs and 4 in evening programs respectively. On-the-job applicants are also welcome.
