Established in 2001, the Department is dedicated to cultivating English professionals with a global outlook and specialized expertise. Guided by the school motto, “Begin from oneself, extend benevolence to all,” our curriculum is constantly updated by integrating resources from industry, government, and academia to help students grasp global trends and meet societal demands. We focus on develop proficiency in English communication, international tourism and business, thus quipping students with the edge of professional competitiveness.

Since 2024, the Department has turned to the cultivation of tourism service and business applications. Through collaboration with other departments, we offer interdisciplinary English programs, such as “International Hospitality English Cross-disciplinary Program” and “Green Dining Program,” jointly-hosted with the Department of Food Science and Technology and the Department of Culinary Arts and Hotel Management. These initiatives deepen students’ professional skills, enhance workplace English communication abilities, and encourage active participation in double majors, minors, or other cross-disciplinary learning to broaden the professional horizons.

Over the years, we have actively supported students to participate in exchange and dual-degree programs in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. Additionally, we have signed cooperation agreements with Humber College (Canada) to promote international exchange, broadening multicultural perspectives and critical thinking abilities of our students.
