The curriculum of the Department of English for Global Communication is focused on guiding students to achieve English language fluency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing and cultivating students’ additional professional skills for careers in tourism services or business applications, based on their concentration modules. Students also develop additional professional skills for careers in hospitality industry, tourism industry, foreign companies, and import and export companies, depending on the concentration they choose. Hungkuang is unique in its emphasis on a comprehensive humanistic education. Therefore, students develop a strong liberal arts foundation that sets them apart from their peers.

 

Graduation Requirements:

Students are required to earn a minimum of 128 credits–50 in required courses, 40 in elective courses, and 38 in general education. Daytime students also need to complete an interdisciplinary program, attain a score of 650 on the TOEIC (or equivalent), and TQC (Techficiency Quotient Credential) by graduation.

Diversification of curriculum: In addition to English fundamental courses, we divide our curriculum into “Tourism Services ” and “Business Applications.” We also encourage students to take inter-disciplinary programs with other departments, minors or double majors to enhance their future career prospects and benefits.
