Vision: Established in 2001 and based on our school’s motto “Begin from oneself, extend benevolence to all,” in accordance with the educational objectives of our school and college, and after consulting with the opinions of our department’s counselors and experts from industries, governments and academia, we aim to correspond with the developmental trends of English profession and cultivate professionals of English teaching, international business, and tourism with global vision.
Mission: We are devoted to the execution of ideas for advanced technical and vocational education, and reinforces the combination of learning, evaluation and application to elevate students toward top professional persons with academic knowledge and practical certificates.
Guiding Principles: With a view to cultivating students’ employment competitiveness, in addition to basic curricula of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation, we have established two modules of curriculum: Tourism Services and Business Applications.
We also unite with other departments to offer such interdisciplinary programs as English leader and tour guide program and cultural tourism program. Furthermore, to deepen the learning synergy of transversal connection to focus on English communication and translation competency needed in the workplace, our students are encouraged to apply for the programs of minors, double majors and second specialty.
For years, our department has been recommending and sending dozens of students with the subsidy of the Ministry of Education abroad, such as Canada, the Great Britain, the United States, Japan, Korea, Thailand, for student exchange and dual degree programs. In addition, our department signed faculty and students’ mutual exchange agreements with Humber College of Canada to deepen students’ cross-cultural perspective and vision.
